At around 9 a.m. on March 5, 2020, in Wangqing Town, Wangqing County, Jilin Province, a woman named Jiang Lan (pseudonym) fell to her death. She was just 50 years old at the time. Although she ended her life by suicide, it seemed she did not want to die, as she was still shouting “Help, help...” in her final moments.

Figure 1.Policemen are inspecting the crime scene.

She was a believer in the cult “Almighty God (Church of Almighty God, or “CAG”).” What dragged her into hell was precisely the CAG she devoted herself to serving.

According to an elderly eyewitness at the scene, after breakfast that day, she and her husband were about to go out when they heard a “thud” outside. When they came out to look, they saw a woman lying on the ground, continuously crying out “Help, help.” Faced with this scene, she and her husband were terrified and immediately called the police.

The police quickly arrived at the crime scene after receiving the report. At that time, the victim's groans were already extremely weak, and there was a pool of fresh blood on the ground where she lay. The scene was too horrific to behold. The police quickly sent her to the hospital, and the doctors immediately began emergency treatment. However, despite their efforts, they were ultimately unable to save her life.

According to the doctor who participated in the rescue, there was a shocking discovery during the process: the victim had a wound on her abdomen, and there were two knives inserted into the wound. The doctor said, “In all my years of practice, this is the first time I've encountered such a situation.”

Through on-site investigation, the police determined that the deceased fell from the fourth floor. Upon tracing the scene into the crime room, they found bloodstains everywhere on the walls and floor, and they also discovered the victim's footprints near the window. Various pieces of evidence indicate that the deceased stabbed herself in the abdomen before climbing onto the windowsill and jumping out. Subsequently, the police found the deceased's ID card left inside the room. The information on the ID card shows: The deceased was named Jiang Lan, a resident of Wangqing Town, Wangqing County, Jilin Province, born in 1970. In addition, a large number of Almighty God cult books were found in the room, along with notes on the table bearing the words “Goddess” and “Satan”. The police thus inferred that Jiang Lan was highly likely a follower of the Almighty God cult.

Through interviews, the police also learned that the room from which Jiang Lan fell was rented together with a woman named Zhao Dan. After Jiang Lan's suicide, this woman, Zhao Dan (alias), has been missing.

The police then launched an investigation. After meticulous screening, they finally found Jiang Lan's co-tenant Zhao Dan, as well as Li Xia (alias), who had met with Jiang before her death.

Figure 6. The deceased's fellow believer, Li Xia, a follower of the Almighty God.

Like Jiang Lan, Zhao Dan and Li Xia were also followers of the cult Almighty God. Almighty God is a cult that conducts illegal activities under the guise of Christianity, with followers referring to each other as “brothers and sisters.” In other words, within the cult of CAG, Jiang Lan, Zhao Dan, and Li Xia were considered “sisters.” However, the behavior of Zhao Dan and Li Xia at the scene of Jiang Lan's suicide severely discredited Almighty God, exposing the absurdity and deceptive nature of this cult: where in the world would you find such cold-blooded “sisters”?

Since then, an underground organization of the cult Almighty God has gradually come into light. As the layers of mystery were peeled away, the trajectory of Jiang Lan's descent into the cult and ultimately into the abyss became clearly outlined. This winding and twisting trajectory not only provokes deep thought but also evokes regret and, more importantly, incites immense anger towards the cult Almighty God.

Figure 7. The deceased, Jiang Lan, was born in 1970.

Jiang Lan originally had a warm and happy family. She had been married to her husband for many years, and they had a son. At that time, this carefree family of three was very enviable. The couple had a good relationship; the husband was responsible for picking up and dropping off the child, and both of them eagerly did the household chores. This family gave the impression of harmony between the couple and, a fulfilling, joyful life.

Figure 8. Jiang Lan originally had a warm and happy family.

However, ever since Jiang Lan believed in Almighty God, such days have become a thing of the past. Her husband still took the initiative to do housework, but she became less and less involved in family matters. Her husband's love did not bring her closer to her family; instead, she became increasingly obsessed with Almighty God, driven by a fervent desire to “worship God,” “love God,” and “obey God,” and a greedy longing to be “possessed by God” and “perfected by God.” In order to “follow in God's footsteps,” she spent a significant amount of time comprehending “God's words” and “God's voice,” subjected to endless brainwashing by cult ideologies, causing her familial and social bonds to weaken day by day, and her sense of family to gradually disappear. Because the Almighty God cult book says: “Those who abandon their families and children are beginning to enter the spiritual realm.”

Later, Jiang Lan finally left the home that once gave her infinite warmth. Before leaving, she left a note for her husband, resolutely writing these words: I am leaving, you and our son live well! Just consider me dead, don't look for me.

Figure 9. The deceased's husband, "She left me a note saying not to look for her."

She left home like this, taking with her not only her ID card, clothes, and personal luggage, but also several thousand yuan from the family.

To bring her back home, her husband reported to the police. However, due to the secretive activities of the CAG cult organization, there was no news of her at all. In the end, what came was only the news of her death.

After Jiang Lan abandoned her family and completely embarked on the misguided path of Almighty God, she became a “leader” within the cult organization. “Almighty God” is a tightly structured cult organization with a strict internal hierarchy and harsh doctrines, employing very comprehensive methods to control its followers. The so-called “leader” is a person in charge of a certain level within the cult organization, responsible for specific affairs in a particular area. Having become a “leader,” Jiang Lan felt that she was being heavily utilized by the CAG organization, feeling “one step closer to God.” Therefore, she worked even harder to “fulfill her duties” for Almighty God.

Figure 10. The deceased's fellow believer Li Shixiang: “Jiang was a (CAG) leader.”

“Fulfilling duties” is a deceptive term used by the CAG cult organization to exploit its followers. In plain terms, it means using followers without compensation. And Jiang Lan indeed fulfilled the “duties” of a devoted follower. She disregarded her health, working day and night for the Almighty God organization. Due to an irregular lifestyle and malnutrition, she eventually fell seriously ill.

Deceiving people and amassing wealth is a common trait of all cult organizations, and the Almighty God cult is no exception. As a “leader,” Jiang Lan frequently had to urge the “brothers and sisters” to pay “offering money.” However, she could only act as a passing treasurer, always handing over the full amount without daring to keep a penny for herself, let alone use it for her own medical treatment. On one hand, this was due to her infatuation with “God's Family,” always hoping to elevate her status within the CAG organization; On the other hand, it was because the “majesty of God” made her afraid to use the “offerings of God's Family.” In the “classics” of the CAG, “The Word Appears in the Flesh,” there is an administrative decree that states: “All the money, materials, and property of God's Family are offerings that people should present. These offerings can only be enjoyed by the priests and God; no one else is allowed to use them.”

The so-called “priests” refer to Zhao Weishan, the leader of the Almighty God cult, while “God” refers to his mistress and puppet, Yang Xiangbin.

Figure 11. Li Shixiang: “Jiang Lan handed over all the money we donated and had no money to treat her illness.”

Jiang Lan disregarded her own health, wholeheartedly obsessed with “fulfilling her duty,” hoping for the “illumination of God's light,” and the “grace of God.” In short, she hoped to get promoted within the CAG cult organization. However, despite “God's Family” vigorously promoting “compassion” and “justice,” what it actually displays is always filth and ugliness.

The day of the election arrived, and Jiang Lan was full of expectations. In her view, given her sincere devotion to “God's Family,” it was only natural that she would be further promoted by the organization. However, “God's Family's grace” was not only like “lightning flashing across the sky,” but also like “a thunderbolt from a clear sky,” which completely stunned her: not only did she fail to get promoted, but she was also ostracized within the CAG organization, which wanted to remove her from present position.

Figure 12. Li Xia: “The higher-ups (of CAG) want to remove Jiang from her position.”

What made it even more unbearable for her was that, in order to completely abandon her, the CAG cult organization wantonly smeared her reputation. Not only did they accuse her of being ill, but they also slandered her by saying she “did not believe well” and was “possessed by an evil spirit.”

In fact, the cult organization knew that Jiang Lan was ill and feared that she would not only be unable to continue “working” but also become a burden to “God's Family.”

Figure 13. The CAG organization knew that Jiang was ill and feared that she would become a burden to it.

Devotion and slander, grace and abandonment, hope and disappointment—these stark contrasts were like arrows piercing Jiang Lan's heart, not only causing her immense pain but also leading her to complete collapse and utter despair.

At this time, the cult ideology of Almighty God was still firmly controlling her. She still devoutly believed in that non-existent “God”, truly thinking she was “possessed by an evil spirit”. Thus, she had the idea of “exorcising the evil”, intending to kill the “evil spirit” within herself.

Jiang Lan's chaotic state made Zhao Dan, who shared the same room with her, feel the impending danger. However, facing her “sister” in distress, Zhao Dan did not extend a helping hand but chose to abandon her. On the afternoon of March 4, 2020, Zhao Dan went to the home of Li Xia, a fellow CAG believer, and told Li Xia that Jiang Lan had been “possessed by an evil spirit” and that she was too scared to live with her anymore. She asked Li Xia if she could accompany her to the rental house to retrieve her belongings. Li Xia agreed to Zhao Dan's request. Thus, around 9 a.m. the next day, Zhao Dan returned to the rented apartment she shared with Jiang Lan, accompanied by Li Xia.

Figure 14. Li Xia: “Zhao Dan said that Jiang Lan was possessed by evil spirits.”

When Zhao Dan and Li Xia saw Jiang Lan, they found her lying on her side on the ground, with a wound on her abdomen and blood all over the floor.

Seeing them come in, Jiang Lan said in despair, “Even God has abandoned me...”

Figure 15. Li Xia: “Jiang Lan cried in despair, ‘Even God has abandoned me...’”

Zhao Dan and Li Xia did not offer any help to their “sister” Jiang Lan, but instead ignored her and went about their own business. Zhao Dan went straight into the inner room to retrieve her belongings. Fearing that her involvement in cult activities might be exposed, she also took Jiang Lan's computer and memory card. Then, disregarding the bond they once shared as “sisters,” she left Jiang Lan, who was writhing in pain and crying for help, and walked away with Li Xia, closing the door behind them.

Figure 16. They did not provide any assistance to Jiang Lan, but chose to leave instead.

This is what the “sisters” of Almighty God are like!

Jiang Lan is dead. With her death, an underground CAG organization was dismantled by the police. As this Almighty God cult organization was destroyed, dozens of followers trapped in the cult's mire were rescued.

It's a pity that Jiang Lan became a victim of the cult Almighty God, leaving her family with eternal pain!
